One of sports’ most historic franchises is celebrating a big birthday and there’s a card set for that. The Upper Deck Boston Bruins Centennial Box Set is set for release on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
There’s a complete base set in the box but there are some chase elements, too, including autographs. Along with the 100 base cards featuring both former greats and current stars, there are five different inserts, parallels or the randomly packed autographs.
Each base card has two different parallels: yellow and gold spectrum. A typical box will have three yellow and one gold spectrum along with one insert card, from a 20-card set called “Beantown Classics” which is focused on 20 Bruins greats from over the decades.
Fifty current and former Bruins have signed for the product but pulling an autograph won’t be easy at one out of every ten sets…and some autographs will be harder than others.
Former greats who are possible include Bobby Orr, Rogie Vachon, Ray Bourque, Cam Neely and Paul Coffey but they’ll be in a group that are the toughest to pull.
Sets are expected to sell for around $50.
