The market for unopened sports card boxes and packs is red hot. As the collector base continues to increase, interest in both modern and vintage material does too.
Prices for a diminishing supply of vintage baseball, football, basketball and hockey cards are continuing to climb. Modern hobby, retail and blaster boxes–especially for popular products–are flying. From $100,000 boxes of 1986-87 Fleer basketball to $500 boxes of current products, there’s a buyer for just about everything.
It’s easy to love unopened. What collector doesn’t like opening a pack of cards? Just as when we were kids, the thrill of the unknown keeps collectors ripping and searching.
Others are in it for the investment. As material becomes more scarce, the gap between supply and demand grows and those who bought boxes even a year or two ago are seeing their items grow in value.
Some simply collect because they love the look of unopened material in their hobby room.
