Goudey Gum Company was a fixture in Boston for many years and produced the hobby’s most popular pre-War gum card sets including its landmark 1933 issue that featured four different Babe Ruth cards and other major stars of the day such as Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Carl Hubbell, Dizzy Dean and many others.
The 1934 set was shorter and had Gehrig, but not Ruth. The Babe returned in 1935 for one last card in the “4×1” set. Goudey continued to produce cards on a much smaller scale for the next few years.
