2016-17 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey will bring a fresh higher-end product to the market just before the holidays. Set for release December 21, Black Diamond carries on the makeover from a year ago with an 
emphasis on rookies, autographs and, well, diamonds.
The base set includes just 50 cards but all are serial numbered. A full checklist is available below this story.
Elite Rookies Diamond Relics will be among the big hits. Between one and four diamonds will be embedded within each card. Every Diamond Relic rookie will be numbered to 99. There are also Flashback Quad Diamond Rookie Relics of Mario LeMieux, numbered to his jersey number 66.
Veteran Diamond Relic cards have been given an upgrade this year, according to Upper Deck, with 1-4 diamonds in each and limited to just five copies of each.
Another chase element will be the 1/1 Pure Black Diamond Relic parallels of rookies and vets.
In addition to each five-card Black Diamond pack, each box will contain a one-card pack of Exquisite hockey cards. Look for more Exquisite cards throughout the rest of the 2016-17 Upper Deck hockey calendar.
