Upper Deck has launched a new “achievement-based” program designed to reward collectors who complete some of the company’s more challenging sets.
The Upper Deck Bounty program will debut with the release of 2016-17 SP Authentic Hockey on May 17. The first 50 collectors who chase down the entire 99-card Spectrum FX insert set will receive a 100-card Spectrum FX Gold parallel set. Four different levels of rarity exist in the Spectrum FX set which will add to the challenge of completing it. The last nine cards, in fact, are seeded only one in every 360 packs.
Those first 50 collectors who scratch off codes from the backs of the cards and enter them on a special website will receive the serial-numbered Gold Spectrum FX Parallel set as well as a Silver Spectrum FX Future Watch Draft Pick card of Auston Matthews (#S-100). If you’re not one of the first 50 to complete the Spectrum FX set, you’ll still be rewarded with the Silver Spectrum Draft Pick Matthews card.
“Collectors love the thrill of completing an entire trading card set, and Upper Deck is proud to reward them throughout the season through this dynamic new program,” said Grant Sandground, Upper Deck Director of Product Development. “Collectors must carefully consider if they want to reveal and register codes, or keep them concealed in order to trade or sell these special cards. A real-time counter featured on the website will identify the remaining bonus achievement sets available for redemption.”
Upper Deck says more challenges with rewards will be revealed as new products are released.
