Topps will debut a new look, high tech card this week with the release of its latest Diamond Icons baseball product.
The company says it worked with a third-party tech company on the creation.
The cards offer what Topps is calling “Liquid Silver,” a new card substrate that will offer a 3-D type of viewing experience. They say it allows for “shifting light patters, vibrant colors that dance off the surface—and stunning holographic imagery with mesmerizing depth.”
“Liquid Silver is made with precision-engineered specialty films and a special embossing process, with the card imagery appearing in three-dimensional formats,” the company stated.
Topps says the design originated on packaging but was adapted for cards and will make its first appearance on one of the company’s higher end rerleases.
The company says it will look to add Liquid Silver to future products but no details were released on that.
Topps also released a short video about the new look for some of its cards.
2024 Topps Diamond Icons is set for release on Wednesday via Topps’ website at around $3,300 per box with nine autograph cards or eight autographs and a relic card per box.
