Packs aren’t scheduled to arrive until next week but it looks like 2019 Topps baseball cards are trickling into the market.
At least a couple of eBay sellers have posted cards previously unseen in promotional images and taken away the mystery of which player will be card #1 in the set. That honor has gone to Ronald Acuna Jr. A seller posted front and back images of the card as part of a flurry of 2019 Topps listings that have hit eBay over the last couple of days.
As it has for the last several years, Topps conducted an online vote last fall to select the player who occupied the first spot on the checklist. The name of the winning player is kept secret–or is supposed to be–until the checklist is released in the days leading up to the release of Series 1. Aaron Judge, Kris Bryant and Mike Trout have been the fans’ choice for card #1 in recent years.
If eBay listings are any indication, at least a small amount of 2019 product has been delivered and released early in Bloomington, IL, Kansas City, KS and in Louisiana. You can see cards that have been listed for sale here.
A look at the backs of 2019 Topps cards reveals something else: full career stats are returning to the backs.
Official release day for Series 1 is Wednesday, January 30.
