The third piece of the annual baseball card trilogy makes its return Wednesday with 2019 Topps Update baseball. The format remains much the same, with the much-anticipated arrival of official rookie cards along with updated cards from players who have changed teams and some special inserts.
Fans of the Silver Pack promotion will be interested to know that Topps is putting them directly into boxes this year, rather than sending them in bulk to stores who participated in the program. That should eliminate unscrupulous store owners from selling big lots of them, rather than doing what they were supposed to—hand them out to customers who bought boxes. Every Hobby box will include one Silver Pack while Jumbos will have two. As collectors of 2019 Topps know, packs include MLB veterans, rookies and retired stars in the 1984 Topps Baseball design on chrome technology. Numbered autographs and parallels will be included in select packs.
A full checklist for 2019 Topps Update is below.
2019 Topps Update Configuration
There will be traditional versions of Update with regular Hobby boxes containing 24 packs of 14 cards and Jumbo boxes holding 10 packs of 46 cards. Hobby boxes will contain either an autograph or relic card while Jumbo box buyers can expect one guaranteed auto and two relic cards. Topps will also have the standard blaster and hangar box options available in stores like Target, Walmart and Meijer.
