Two significant home run balls from Game 7 of the 2025 World Series, caught by members of the same Toronto-area family, are now at SCP Auctions.
The ball from Miguel Rojas’ ninth-inning game-tying solo home run and Will Smith’s 11th-inning go-ahead solo home run that propelled the Dodgers to a 5-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre are expected to be among the top sellers in the company’s current Fall Premier sale. The Smith ball has already been bid up to $130,000 with a week and a half left in the auction. The Rojas ball stood at $50,000 as of Tuesday evening.
Last month, SCP Auctions President David Kohler said the Smith ball could bring a $500,000 or more while the Rojas ball could sell for up to $200,000.
All in the Family
With one out in the ninth inning and the Dodgers trailing 4-3, Rojas–the Dodgers’ 36-year-old utility infielder –stepped to the plate against Blue Jays reliever Jeff Hoffman and with the count full, drove a hanging slider 387 feet over the Dodgers bullpen into a Toronto fan’s glove leaning over from the bleachers. The unlikely blast tied the score at 4-4, sending shockwaves throughout the Rogers Centre and silencing the Blue Jays faithful.
It was a case of right place, right time for John Bain, a 61-year-old Toronto resident and longtime Blue Jays fan, who caught the Rojas ball from the front-row seats down the left-field line.
Video footage captured the moment: Bain, who had brought a glove to the game, snared the actual home run ball but immediately pulled a different ball from his pocket and tossed it onto the field—a classic “fan switch” move that preserved the historic souvenir.
That’s my Dad!! & my brother caught the Will Smith homer too
He also caught 2 home run balls during Yankees series
He’s a diehard #BlueJays fan. Devastated by the result today, but proud of our team for making it this far pic.twitter.com/wCDch7GO71

It was still knotted at 4-4 in the top of the 11th when catcher Will Smith came to the plate with two outs. The Blue Jays had former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber on the mound, and Smith launched the third pitch he saw 366 feet over the left field wall to put the Dodgers up 5-4.
“You dream of those moments,” Smith said. “Extra innings, put your team ahead? Yeah, I’ll remember that one forever.”
John Bains’ son Matthew corralled the ball after it landed in the bullpen and bounced up to his waiting hands.
The Bains’ season tickets are purposefully located in the left-field bleachers to give them a chance at catching home run balls. In fact, just a few weeks earlier, they had already caught home runs hit by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Ernie Clement in the ALDS vs. the Yankees.

SCP sold the ball from the final out of the Dodgers’ 2024 World Series win for over $400,000 earlier this year, with proceeds aiding Los Angeles fire relief efforts. Freddie Freeman’s game-ending home run ball from Game 1 of that 2024 series, brought in over $1.56 million at auction in December 2024.
