There was plenty to see if you were of a mind to hit up a card show over the weekend–and not all of it had to do with old baseball cards.
Actor/comedian Adam Sandler was among the attendees at the “Long Island National” at Hofstra University. Dressed in shorts, a heavy coat, sunglasses and a cap, the multi-talented star rolled in Saturday.

He’s also been known to pop into hobby shops.
According to a report last fall, Sandler is set to star in a film centered around high-end card collecting. That report last fall indicated shooting would begin some time this year. It looks like it’s headed to Netflix.
On Thursday, the Brooklyn native shot some hoops a the school. He’s also been doing a short comedy tour this month.
The vintage oriented Strongsville show returned to Northeast Ohio.
A good crowd turned out with early VIP ticket buyers streaming into a ballroom at the Best Western in Strongsville.
The show’s roots in that area go back to the 1970s. Dealers and collectors from around the country make a point to get to the show, which is sponsored by Lelands.
SGC had been scheduled to take submissions but the flooding near the company’s home base in Florida scuttled those plans.
Flooding and cancelled flights also caused Frank Viola to miss his scheduled signing session at Hofstra.
Both shows had several autograph guests. It was a doubleheader for Rickey Henderson, who signed at the Strongsville show Saturday, then hopped on a plane for the Hofstra show Sunday.
