Upper Deck has expanded its agreement with hockey legend Bobby Orr.
The former Boston Bruins great has long held an exclusive hockey card deal with the company but that partnership now includes Upper Deck’s exclusivity with Orr for signed memorabilia and collectibles. Orr first agreed to a memorabilia deal with Upper Deck in 2020.
Orr remains the only defenseman to win the Art Ross trophy as the NHL’s scoring leader two different times. He also won the Norris Trophy as the league’s best defenseman every year from 1967-68 to 1974-75. He won two Stanley Cups while with the Bruins and spent his final two injury plagued seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks.
“Bobby Orr revolutionized the game of hockey from one end of the rink to the other, and we’re fortunate to deepen our existing relationship with him as an exclusive spokesperson,” remarked Jason Masherah, president of Upper Deck. “It’s been nearly 50 years since he hung up his skates, yet he remains a household name for any generation of hockey fan; that makes Orr one of the most special athletes to play in the NHL. We are honored to showcase his career and help collectors celebrate his legacy through all collectibles and memorabilia.”
Upper Deck has created two brand-new prints as part of its line of Orr memorabilia. “Skating For Country” celebrates the only time Orr ever played for Team Canada in 1976 and won the MVP title, while “Excellence Redefined” exalts his long-standing career and cultural impact on the game.
