One of just two 1979 O-Pee-Chee Ozzie Smith rookie cards graded Gem Mint 10 by PSA is on the auction block.
Consigned by a seller to the PSA consignment store on eBay, the card had a high bid of over $41,000 Wednesday, heading toward a Friday close.
It’s the most watched eBay rookie card auction at the moment.
Both the OPC and Topps versions of the Hall of Famer’s first card are notorious for being off-center. Only 39 OPC Smith rookies have even rated as high as a 9.
Topps has graded five as 10s with 419 rated 9.
One of the six PSA 10 1973 O-Pee-Chee Mike Schmidt rookies and a PSA 5 1990 Topps Frank Thomas “no name” error card are also on the eBay auction block this week.

eBay has rolled out its Authenticity Guarantee program for trading cards in the UK, becoming the first major online marketplace to offer expert verification as standard for high-value purchases in the category.
The service applies to eligible collectable card games, sports trading cards, and non-sports cards sold for £500 (approx. $680 USD) and above. It began rolling out Wednesday at no extra cost to buyers or sellers, with full coverage expected by June. Qualifying listings will display a blue Authenticity Guarantee badge.
Upon purchase, sellers ship items directly to eBay’s authentication facility, where experts from Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) conduct a multi-point inspection for authenticity and condition. A tamper-evident e-tag with a QR code is added for verification, and the card is then delivered tracked to the buyer. The program also covers eligible eBay Live purchases.
This UK launch builds on eBay’s US program, introduced in January 2022. It initially covered single ungraded trading cards (sports, CCGs, and non-sports) sold for $750+; by mid-2022, it expanded to graded, autograph, and patch cards at $250+.
