RaceRock was once one of the coolest places to eat in Orlando, Florida. Packed wall-to-wall with cars, race suits, autographs and pretty much everything you can think of. Now the place is closed and all that stuff–well over one thousand items–is part of a big auction this weekend.
After serving as a backdrop for 11 years in famed eatery Race Rock Supercharged Restaurant in Orlando, more than 1,000 pieces of motorsports collectibles and memorabilia will be auctioned online at LiveAuctioneers.com June 1-3.
The items were on display in the restaurant, a prominent fixture on Orlando’s famous International Drive until its close earlier this year.
Highlights of the sale include Jeff Gordon’s 1994 #24 Winston Cup race-used car, Richard Petty’s Charlie Horse One used cowboy hat and Dale Earnhart’s used Wheaties race suit.
Winning bidders have a chance to grab pieces of racing history from the full gamut of motorsports — NASCAR, Formula One, Indy, dragster, motorcycle and powerboat racing.
The items for sale are part of an extensive and authentic collection assembled by Race Rock’s founder Bobby Moore, who first opened the restaurant in 1992 in Detroit. His partners and racing greats Richard and Kyle Petty, Mario and Michael Andretti, John Force, Jeff Gordon, Don Prudhomme, Rusty Wallace, Scott Parker, Ernie Irvin and Geoff Bodine, relocated the flagship store to Orlando in 1996.
Many of the items were featured in Race Rock establishments around the country, including the 20,000 square foot building. Some of the other feature items include: Joe Amato 1988 Valoline Top Fuel Dragster race car (race used show car), Jeremy McGrath 1995 Honda Supercross bike (specially built); Jimmy King 1995 Orange Crush Hydroplane (race used dsiplay); Andretti 1989 Lola Indy race car, the only car driven by all three Andrettis — Mario, Michael and Jeff (show car); Dave Shultz 1994 Sunoco Suziki drag bike (race used show bike); Tony Stewart, 1999 Home Depot Indy 500 race suit (race used) and a Rubens Barrichello 1998 HSBC/Ford Formula 1 racesuit.
