A Tennessee FedEx employee is accused of stealing two pre-War baseball cards as part of a string of thefts involving items shipped through the company.
Local media reports quote Memphis Airport Police as stating a FedEx customer reported that a package containing a 1933 Goudey Sport Kings Ty Cobb and a 1915 Cracker Jack Chief Bender card arrived at its destination—but the cards inside were gone.
Tracking information indicated the package had been scanned at the FedEx hub in Memphis on May 22 at 6:23 AM.
An internal investigation began after the customer filed a complaint on May 27, saying an empty box had been delivered.
The customer reported he then spotted the missing cards listed on eBay. They were valued at $6,856.

An investigation, in cooperation with eBay, confirmed it was 34-year-old Antwone Tate who had listed the cards for sale.
The eBay account under which the cards were listed, antta_75, is no longer active.
The investigation had also turned up other missing items sent through FedEx dating back several weeks, including four gold bars and a diamond ring later that had been pawned at a local shop.
Shelby County Jail records indicate bond has been set at $11,000. He’s set to appear in court on Friday.
