There are already a bunch of different Zion Williamson basketball cards to collect, some of which sell for thousands of dollars. So what would a jersey worn during his first regular season game go for?
We’ll soon find out.
Williamson’s debut jersey—the first of two he wore last Wednesday night—is up for bids through NBA Auctions. Bidding opened Friday and as of Sunday, the high bid was closing in on $15,000. With 18 days to go before the auction closes, it’s a safe bet to say it’ll go much higher.
The first overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, Williamson wore the Statement Edition New Orleans Pelicans jersey during the first half of their 121-117 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in New Orleans. He was wearing it when he scored his first NBA points.
After a relatively quiet start, Williamson ignited a New Orleans rally in the fourth quarter with a barrage of three-pointers, finishing with 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists in 18 minutes. Still in comeback mode after knee surgery last fall, he was removed from the game as a precaution.
The red jersey, a Size 52 with six inches extra length, was specially tagged and registered into the NBA and MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program’s database.
Bidding will continue through February 13 at NBAAuctions.com.
