The Topps Company has signed an exclusive multi-year autograph trading card deal with Japanese pitching phenom Yu Darvish. The deal also gives Topps rights to produce memorabilia cards, insert cards and base cards.
Darvish will make his first autograph card appearance in the upcoming Topps Tribute Baseball. The card will be limited to 25 and will be available via redemption. In addition, Darvish autographs will appear in both Topps Museum Collection Baseball (30 cards) and Gypsy Queen Baseball (25 cards).
2012 Bowman Baseball will feature Darvish Autographs in a bigger way. This is where collectors will find Darvish’s Autographed Bowman Chrome Rookie Card.
On the heels of Bowman, collectors will find an array of autographed cards from Darvish in Topps products (including the already solicited Topps Archives, Topps Series 2, Tier One, Allen & Ginter, Bowman Platinum and Topps Chrome) in 2012.
Darvish, who signed with the Texas Rangers on January 18, is one of the most heralded Japanese players to ever come to the U.S. At only 25 years old, Darvish has two MVPs, three strikeout titles (Japanese Pacific League) and a win-loss record of 93-38.
