A long-time baseball artist has captured the end of one era and the beginning of another.
Celebrated American sports artist Bill Purdom has produced two historic lithographs of old and new Yankee Stadium, being made available now through his long time publisher Bill Goff of Good Sports Art.
The Yankee Stadium offerings by Purdom will touch the emotions of baseball fans, as Mariano Rivera delivers the final pitch in the “old” Stadium – September 21, 2008, (to Baltimore’s Brian Roberts), and C.C. Sabathia delivers the first pitch in the “new” Stadium – April 16, 2009 (to Cleveland’s Grady Sizemore).
“It’s our pleasure to welcome Bill Purdom ‘home’ with these outstanding new paintings,” says Bill Goff, who founded goodsportsart.com more than 30 years ago under a different name. The company’s art graces the walls of many athletes, teams, leagues and sports marketing companies.
Both Yankee Stadium lithographs are 18” x 33”, signed and numbered by Purdom, and limited to 600 with 60 artist proofs.
Good Sports Art’s 18th annual Hallowed Ground calendar, featuring 13 classic renderings has also been released.
The 2010 Hallowed Ground calendar includes works by Purdom, Bill Williams, William Feldman and Graig Kreindler, who painted the Citizens Bank Park first pitch that adorns the cover. The calendar design was created by Andy Jurinko.
The 2010 issue measures 11”x17” and is available for $17 plus $6 shipping (for up to 5 calendars).
