A game worn Ted Williams jersey was sold Thursday night–43 years after no one would pay $100 for it at a charity auction.
Apparently, It was just a smelly old flannel shirt in 1964. When a philanthropic organization tried to sell a 1955 Ted Williams road flannel, the high bid was $50. The lack of monetary interest may have had something to do with Ted Williams’ sometimes rocky tenure in Boston.
The man who obtained it decided to just give it away to someone working the auction that day. Now the mystery man has gotten his payday. Skinner auctions put the Splendid Splinter’s threads up for auction and the winning bid was $35,250.
