Bud Elwin is a collector who believes in giving back.
Every Friday and Saturday this summer, the 72-year-old Red Sox fan from Maine has set up a table full of baseball memorabilia trying to raise money for a child abuse and neglect foundation.
He sells raffle tickets for a weekly prize drawing for one of his items, which include autographed jerseys and other items he’s purchased. It’s a project he took on by himself after state budget cuts put a major dent in the organization’s coffers.
It’s not the only organization he helps with his collection.
He’s also become one of the foremost authorities on the life and times of Ted Williams.
Check out his story in the Portland Press Herald.
