David Roth (no, not that one) sent his resume' to Topps on a whim after reading the back of a basketball card. They hired him for what he thought would be a dream job.
It didn't turn out that way, but he's not bitter–just a little disappointed.
It seems the guys who toil on the short, snappy bios for the underappreciated backs of the cards don't get a lot of respect. Nevertheless David is still writing card backs on a free-lance basis.
