Gone but not forgotten, SPORT magazines are too nice to toss.
It began in post-War America, when GIs poured back into the states ready to play.. and read..about sports.
SPORT magazine brought brilliant photography together with some outstanding feature writing and interviews. Thousands of kids taped the beautiful Ozzie Sweet photos to their bedroom walls while men devoured the stories about the big name athletes like Mantle, Mays, Williams and Aaron. Today, back issues are available at a reasonable price in the collector market.
The magazine stopped publishing several years ago but it’s fondly remembered by writer Mark Armour .
The SPORT gallery brings the photos back to life.
