Wheatland Auction Services is aiming for the middle as its final auction of 2023 kicks off. The company has put together an online catalog with over 850 lots on the block, most of which are aimed at collectors with more modest budgets.
The auction includes a rookie cards both vintage and modern, complete and near complete older sets, autographed cards and memorabilia.
Among the rookie cards being offered are a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie, two Sandy Koufax rookie cards, a 1968 Topps/Milton Bradley Nolan Ryan rookie and graded first year examples of Hank Aaron, Stan Musial, Ernie Banks, Bob Gibson, Mike Schmidt, Johnny Unitas, Walter Payton, Julius Erving, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Vintage football complete sets include 1948 Bowman, 1951 Topps Magic, two 1959 Topps, 1960 Fleer, 1966 and ’67 Philadelphia and 1969 Topps. Baseball sets from the 1970s and 80s are in the sale as well.
Autographed baseball and football cards dating back to the 1960s, many sold as lots, are on the block.
In-demand current era cards include the 1/1 2023 Topps Cosmic Chrome Shohei Ohtani SuperFractor, a 2023 Allen & Ginter Victor Wembanyama framed mini autograph, a 2018 Topps Opening Day Ichiro 1/1 and a 2020 Contenders Optic Jalen Hurts auto graded 9.5 by SGC.
The memorabilia being offered includes a 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers team signed baseball with Jackie Robinson as one of the 27 autographs, another 1950s Dodgers ball with Robinson and Vin Scully, a 1962 Yankees team ball, a 1949 Philadelphia A’s team ball and another autographed by the 1952 New York Giants.
There’s a large group of 1960s-80s bobbleheads, a 1972 Topps Baseball uncut sheet, a 1982 Wrestling All-Stars Hulk Hogan and a 1930s Babe Ruth Hillerich & Bradsby Ruth store model bat.
