Popular rookie cards, a rare and important Nolan Ryan autographed card, mounds of current stars and cards from the collection of a former Fleer employee are among the highlights in Wheatland Auctions’ summer catalog.
The auction includes over 870 lots.
1951 Bowman rookie cards of Mickey Mantle (PSA 3) and Willie Mays (SGC 4.5), SGC graded copies of rookie cards featuring Joe Namath and Wayne Gretzky, a 1948 Leaf Stan Musial rookie, an SGC 6 Bart Starr 1957 Topps rookie and other first year cards of Sandy Koufax, Joe Namath, Tom Seaver, Nolan Ryan and Jerry West are part of the mix.
There are multiple 1960s Mantle cards in the vintage section as well as a 1935 National Chicle Knute Rockne.
Also among the heavy hitters: a 2014 Topps Museum Collection Babe Ruth cut signature 1/1 graded Beckett BGS 9.5 Gem Mint with a 9 autograph grade. Bidding has already surpassed $10,000 for what was the biggest chase card in the product.
Another insert rarity is one of the 25 1991 Upper Deck Nolan Ryan Heroes autograph cards that carry his “Strikeout King” inscription.
Other auction highlights include a 2009-10 Topps Chrome Refractor James Harden rookie card numbered to 500 and graded PSA 10, along with graded rookie cards of Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, Brock Purdy and other current stars.
Set builders and collectors will find multiple 1951 Bowman partial sets, bulk lots and single graded cards and a complete 1968 Topps baseball set, among others.
Sealed hobby wax boxes include 2020 Panini Contenders Football, 2020 and ’21 Prizm Football, 2020-21 Contenders Basketball and 2019-20 Panini Certified Basketball.
Cards from the collection of a former Fleer/Skybox employee have also been consigned to the auction. Among them: a 1997-98 Skybox Premium Michael Jordan # 1GT Golden Touch insert, a 1997-98 Skybox Premium Michael Jordan #3CA Competitive Advantage insert (graded SGC 9.5) and a 1997-98 Skybox Premium Jordan Thunder & Lightning insert.
