It’s almost spring…and that means a fresh new start for the old website too.
After three and a half years, Sports Collectors Daily was starting to look a little dated. It also had a few functionality issues on the back end that made it somewhat frustrating at times.
Our new home with WordPress offers more options, a cleaner look and should improve our search engine friendliness. It’s not 100% complete, but pretty close.
It was a crazy weekend of technical and design work on the part of our awesome programmer (who lives 1,000 miles away) and some nagging by your humble servant. We had hoped to have everything ready to roll by Monday, but it was more important to get everything in order…or at least as much as we could.
The process of changing Sports Collectors Daily’s look actually began last week though. There were over 4,000 articles and posts to transfer over, photos, links, special advertising units and so much more. It was a truly challenging task and made me realize how far we’ve come since July of 2006.
A couple of tips:
You can search by category using the drop down menus at the top. This feature used to be on the left side. You can get a recent snapshot of those stories from those same categories under “More Sports Collecting News” near the bottom of the page.
I think you’ll also find our main ‘search’ function much more effective than the old one. It’s in the upper right and you can use whatever keyword or phrase you like to find stories that are relevant. And remember, there are over 4,000 in our archives!
A lot of you like to check out eBay. Those links are still here and we encourage you to use them because when you enter eBay from our site, we get a little change back and that helps keep this train running.
I hope you enjoy the new layout and thanks again for your continued support!
