Some go to garage sales or flea markets to see if there might still be some unclaimed sports treasures ripe for the picking.
Emily Green finds them while walking down the street.
A writer for L.A. weekly, Green was strolling in her neighborhood one day when she picked up a couple of baseballs. She wasn’t really hunting for artifacts. She sees a ball, she picks it up and finds someone who’ll take better care of it.
Yet a closer look at these old hardballs revealed some signatures.
And an inscription.
It wasn’t until she looked closer and did some research that she noticed the autographs.
Funny thing about treasures, though. They aren’t always what they seem.
