From Wilbert Robinson to Jackie Robinson and Reggie Jackson to Derek Jeter, there’s a card or autograph from every era of baseball in the new Heritage Auctions catalog. The company’s Showcase auction, featuring primarily items of more modest value, includes over 1,300 lots and is now underway.
It’s one with a theme vintage collectors will appreciate, especially those who like to line the shelves of their memorabilia rooms with old sets. The auction includes a virtual complete run of sets from the mid-1950s to the 70s. Among them: 1954 Bowman, 1954 Topps, 1957 Topps, 1961 Topps (two), 1968 Topps and 1972 Topps, some in high-grade.
There are sets from other sports as well including a 1965 Topps with Joe Namath’s rookie card and 1963 Fleer.
Single cards include numerous T206s and other tobacco and candy cards of the deadball era, an 1894 N142 Duke “Honest” Wilber Robinson, numerous Babe Ruth cards from his playing days and beyond, a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle and several other cards of the Yankee great from throughout his career–including autographed copies.
There are some unopened boxes and packs sprinkled throughout, including a rare 1975-76 O-Pee-Chee Hockey wax box with 48 packs, a run of O-Pee-Chee Baseball boxes from 1976-1979 and a scarce 1967 Topps Punch Outs cello pack.
Modern era highlights include several Gold parallel cards from the 1997 Fleer Ultra Stars basketball insert set including Michael Jordan (PSA 8) and Kobe Bryant (PSA 9) as well as a PSA 9 1986-87 Fleer Jordan rookie card.
Memorabilia lots begin with a 2006 Derek Jeter jersey, photo matched to use in 17 games and a 2007 game-used bat. Both are autographed by the former Yankees captain. There are numerous items signed by Babe Ruth including a baseball dating to the historic 1927 season. There’s an Upper Deck Authenticated signed print featuring Muhammad Ali, Jordan and Tiger Woods, a complete set of Hartland statues and for those with room on the wall–a 1966 Philadelphia Football uncut sheet.
