With the St. Louis Cardinals back in the National League playoffs, the timing couldn’t be much better for an auction of Stan Musial memorabilia. The late Hall of Famer’s collection of career and personal items is being sold by Heritage Auctions. Bidding ends next month.
More than 400 items are in the sale. Much of what’s being sold comes directly from the Musial family.
While the generous slugger gave away many items throughout the years, there is a game-worn jersey from his 1948 National League MVP season, important baseballs including Musial’s 1,000th, 2000th and 3,200th hits, dozens of team signed balls and several World Series rings.
Among the historically fascinating items are letters Musial received from other baseball notables over the years and a signed Babe Ruth baseball. Chris Ivy of Heritage chatted with ESPN’s Mint Condition about the auction.
