Baseball history returns to the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum next month when Hunt Auctions kicks off the annual auction. Hundreds of items will be up for bid but there’s always a prize piece and this year, it’s the uniform from one of the most famous moments ever.
The uniform Bill Mazeroski was wearing when he hit his World Series-winning home run for the Pittsburgh Pirates in October of 1960 is on the block along with the bronzed bat and spikes. Bidding just opened with a $50,000 bid already in on the uniform.
The personal collections of Joe Sewell and Bobby Wine and more from the Warren Spahn collection are up for bid as well as a Babe Ruth bat and a lot more.
Hunt Auctions’ President David Hunt appeared on Bloomberg TV Monday, showing off the Maz jersey and talking about collecting in general.
While the focus is often on the big ticket items, he also brought along some things that won’t go for an arm and a leg. Watch the video below.
