These are challenging times for sports card and sports memorabilia shops. Some have closed for now. Others can only offer curbside service or delivery to stay within local guidelines. Those that have been able to stay open so far are seeing fewer customers.
In Florida and Arizona, the early end to spring training was a double whammy. Jeff Thalblum owns Free Agent Sports in the Paradise Valley Mall in Phoenix. Normally, his shop would have seen out-of-town visitors and others excited about the start of the baseball season. He’s recently had to cancel scheduled autograph sessions because of the Coronavirus but is trying to stay optimistic that things will get back to normal.
“It’s just kinda like a no-hitter being thrown at you right now. It’s the seventh inning and we still have two innings to go,” Thalblum told KTVK’s Tresa Tudrick. Watch her story below.
