An ongoing auction of over 140 hockey jerseys worn by the teams in the Vancouver Olympic games continued with the silver medal-winning USA shirts closing Tuesday night.
The blue shirts were used in the Americans’ 3-1 win over Switzerland on February 16.
Patrick Kane’s #88 brought the largest bid at $4825, a far cry from the Sidney Crosby Team Canada shirt that netted over $37,000 last week.
Three Team USA jerseys went for over $4000. Zach Parise, the near-hero of the gold medal game, earned some more respect with the sale of his #9 jersey at $4539, the second highest price paid. Star goalie Ryan Miller’s jersey brought $4335.
Other top sellers included Bobby Ryan ($2969), Jamie Langenbrunner ($1593) and Dustin Brown ($1484).
Proceeds from the auction are being used to rebuild a children’s hospital after the devastating quake in Haiti earlier this year.
This week’s portion of the ongoing auction raised over $43,000 through the sale of 17 jerseys. Last week, the auction raised $94,000 with the sale of 23 Canadian shirts.
The auction continues with Finland jerseys, the third of 12 weekly auctions scheduled on eBay. Click here to see the jerseys in the auction.
