Tom Petty was right.
The waiting is the hardest part.
Or at least it has been for some unlucky Upper Deck collectors. Athletes who promised to sign special insert cards for the company haven’t always been prompt or even responsible about it. That left it up to Upper Deck to try and track them down while issuing ‘redemption cards’.
It hasn’t been easy and some collectors were plenty fed up when wait times for some players began exceeding two years. Hobby shop owners saw sales of some products decline over the issue.
At the industry’s annual Hawaii Trade Conference, which is now being held in Florida (go figure), Richard McWilliam tried to calm the stormy waters by promising to keep future redemption turnaround times to 45 days or less.
