There are plenty of Michael Jordan autographed cards in one of Upper Deck’s final basketball releases of the year–if you can find boxes for sale.
Upper Deck short printed it’s UD Premier basketball card brand in hopes that the limited availability might jump start a less than stellar market for hoops cards.
Just 499 sequentially numbered cases (399 ten-box cases and 100 five-box cases) were produced. The boxes include autograph and game-used content from stars like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett as well as a significant number of Michael Jordan autographed cards.
At about $300 per seven-card pack, collectors will find every card in the pack to be low-numbered consisting of rookie cards, autograph cards, game-used memorabilia cards and Upper Deck’s “Premier Stitchings” cards which are comprised of more than 150 woven patch cards with rare autograph versions. The company says the vast majority of the autograph cards are hard-signed, meaning label autographs were only used on very rare multi-signed versions.
“While we understand the limited nature of our recent NBA releases has caused some frustration with hobby shops, there is no doubt the positive effect it has created in the market as a whole,” said Chris Kollmeyer, Upper Deck’s Basketball brand manager. “The limited nature of a product like 2007-08 UD Premier Basketball allows us to enrich the content which will ultimately provide collectors with a much better experience when opening up packs."
