Panini America has snagged more than 200 schools for licensed trading card products beginning next year, but Notre Dame won’t be one of them.
The University and Upper Deck announced a multi-year agreement Friday naming Upper Deck as the exclusive provider of cards for Fighting Irish athletic programs.
Upper Deck released the first comprehensive set of Notre Dame football cards in 2013, which featured renowned players and coaches dating back to the 1920’s and included individual player cards, themed inserts, memorable moments, autograph cards and mini replica pennants.
Now, Upper Deck says it plans to expand the program by creating a multi-sport trading card set, offering a new line of Notre Dame signed memorabilia and producing a limited edition Notre Dame Master Collection. More details on these and other products will be announced early next year.
“The University of Notre Dame boasts an impressive list of athletes as alumni and has one of the most passionate fan bases in college sports” said Jason Masherah, President of Upper Deck. “Over the last five years we have built a strong partnership with Notre Dame, and we continue to be dedicated to producing the most creative and innovative collectibles for Notre Dame fans to enjoy .”
The new deal goes into effect Spring 2015.
