The wait for a new golf trading card product will come to an end next year.
Upper Deck announced Monday it would be launching three golf releases in 2021, including Artifacts, which will launch the series at an as yet undetermined date in the spring.
“Collectors have been begging us to bring golf cards back for years,” said Upper Deck’s Sports Brand Manager Paul Zickler. “Professional golf is in such a great place right now, with new young stars emerging on the PGA TOUR and players challenging long-standing records almost daily, it seems like the perfect time to introduce a new golf product to fans around the world.”
Artifacts is a familiar brand that’s been used in numerous Upper Deck sports card products over the years. The 2021 golf edition is described as a “premium product” that will be heavy on memorabilia and autograph cards from both current PGA and LPGA stars and former players. It’s scheduled to arrive in the spring of 2021.
Tiger Woods, World Golf Hall of Fame members Arnold Palmer and Annika Sorenstam, as well as up-and-coming players Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas, Matthew Wolff, Danielle Kang and Lexi Thompson are among those to be featured.
Artifacts Golf will have a 50-card base set, a 30-card rookie set, a Multi-Majors Winners Memorabilia subset, signed memorabilia cards and Diamond Relic insert cards that can include up to four “lab created” diamonds per subject.
All three golf releases will include Legendary PGA Tour Course Relic cards featuring sand and dirt from the famed TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, home of The Players Championship.
Artifacts Golf will be available at hobby shops nationwide, as well as on Upper Deck e-Pack.
