It made its debut last season as a lower cost product that still guaranteed at least one autograph and relic card per box. It seemed to meet with the approval of collectors and 2020-21 Upper Deck Allure Hockey is on the schedule for next season, too.
2020-21 Upper Deck Allure Configuration
Box content will be slightly different this year. Allure will have two more cards per pack (a total of eight). Each box will have eight packs and still guarantee an autograph. The rest of the box should contain eight rookie card SPs, eight numbered or ratioed parallels, five inserts and two from a group that includes Double Rainbow, rare parallel or jersey cards, in addition to a stack of base cards.
Base Set and Base Autographs
The base set will include 150 cards, with a checklist that includes 70 veterans, 30 rookies and 50 more rookies that will be short printed. Look for the SPs to fall one per pack, on average.
Base set parallels range from color and pattern variations to color and pattern variations with autographs and/or memorabilia. Autographed Jersey parallels numbered to 75 and 25 will be in the mix, along with Auto Patch parallels numbered to 10 and Golden Treasure Autograph parallels that will be 1/1. Green Quartz parallels will be numbered to 99.
Falling just one in every 500 packs, there will be a 10-card Base Set Photo Variation set consisting of the best active stars and rookies from the base set checklist.
Some parallels will be exclusive to the rookie cards in the product and there are numerous base autograph parallels that will be serial numbered (see the complete breakdown at the bottom of this story).
Inserts
There will be three new insert sets: City Celly, Diagnostics and Grand Entrance, with the latter being new and the toughest to find. Grand Entrance will be focused on the NHL’s top rookie prospects and feature Gold Auto and Blue (# to 99) parallels.
City Celly “captures the joy of goal-scoring, presenting players celebrating doing just that – and with the skyline of their home city in the background,” according to Upper Deck. Seismic Autograph parallels will be possible, falling one in every 331 packs.
Diagnostic’a Blue and Green Parallels will also be tough, falling at the same 1:331 rate.
Iced Out inserts are back with a checklist of major stars and rookies. It will have also have a Blue parallel version numbered to 99.
Quartz Autographs
Quartz Autographs will be among the major hits. Rookies will be tougher to pull at one in every 445 packs as opposed to veteran autos that are 1:250. Blue parallels numbered to 5 will also be posssible.
XRC Redemptions
Look for the top five 2021-22 rookies to be available as part of an autograph redemption card program following the 2021 Draft. The redemptions will be inserted at a rate of one in every 640 packs.
2020-21 Upper Deck Allure Hockey has a scheduled release date of January 6 with an ePack release scheduled for about a month later.
