A former gymnast from Ukraine is selling his silver medal from the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, with proceeds going to help the war effort his his country.
Ruslan Mezentsev was part of Ukraine’s men’s artistic team that took second behind the Chinese national team.
Mezentsev will be donating all funds to help his town fight the war in Ukraine, and RR Auction, which is selling the medal, says it will be donating its buyer’s premium fee to the cause as well.
Bidding is currently at $5,500 with the auction set to run through Thursday. American swimmer Ryan Lochte is auctioning his Olympic medals in the same sale.
Attendance at the three-day Nashville Sports Collectors Show was over 5,000 according to promoter Jeff Roberts.

Red hot rookie Julio Rodriguez gets two cards in a Topps Now Home Run Derby set available online. The online exclusive includes all of the participants in Monday night’s event.
One card shows Rodriguez taking a cut en route to his runner-up finish while another commemorates his Home Run Derby rookie record of 32 in the first round.
Derby champ Juan Soto and outgoing slugger Albert Pujols are also featured twice in the 11-card issue.
