Topps and New York Mets star Pete Alonso have collaborated on a new boxed trading card set. The product went live on Topps’ website Tuesday. It’s the latest in a run of such issues that have also included sets curated by Bryce Harper and Francisco Lindor. All three players have endorsement deals with Topps.
The Topps X Pete Alonso set contains 50 cards and every other box will include a 51st card that is either autographed by Alonso (on card) or another player (sticker).
Twenty base cards feature some of baseball’s top younger players. Thirty others are considered inserts, including Pete’s Award Season Picks, 50 HR Club Members, Hitter’s Nightmares, Franchise Favorites, Home Run Derby Greats, and players who hail from Alonso’s home state of Florida.
The main design is inspired by New York City street art. The second style is one for which you might have to do a little internet research unless you’re a history student. You can learn more about that and see additional images from the set on Topps’ website, where the product carries a $60 price tag.
