Topps announced plans to produce a high end set centered around the recently completed World Baseball Classic on Thursday. Utilizing its Tribute brand, Topps says boxes will contain six packs and buyers are guaranteed four autographs and two patch cards numbered to 99. 2013 Topps Tribute World Baseball Classic doesn’t have a specific release date. Boxes will cost dealers a little over $200 each.
The big draw will be special redemption cards good for a game-worn jersey from a WBC player. There will also be 1/1 patch cards featuring the flag from the player’s jersey and also WBC logo cards taken from the back collar of game jerseys.
Topps promises at least 50 autograph subjects as well as an “International Legends” series of signed cards numbered to 15 that will include Nolan Ryan, Cal Ripken, Don Mattingly and Juan Marichal, among others. Autographed cards will have seven parallels ranging from 1-1 Onyx to 1 of 50 blue.
The WBC Heroes autograph series will feature up to seven of the best players from the first two Classics.
Each pack of 2013 Topps World Baseball Classic will contain four base cards from a 100-card base set. There will also be three parallels for each base card, none numbered higher than 25.
