Topps announced Friday that it has signed an autograph trading card deal with Mark McGwire.
McGwire, whose records have been scorned because of his admitted use of performance enhancing drugs, had never agreed before to sign certified autograph cards for the company.
He does go back a long way with Topps. His first appearance on their cards came as a member of Team USA in 1985.
McGwire is currently a hitting coach with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Collectors will be able to find McGwire’s autographs in Topps first 2014 product – Topps Baseball Series 1. McGwire will also sign for the company’s first high-end release of the year, Topps Tribute.
Additional products McGwire’s autograph will appear in.
