Collectors who shop retail outlets like Target might see a new product online and in stores. 2022 Bowman Mega Boxes are out, offering another prospect-oriented chase.
The boxes carry ten packs with four cards per pack along with two five-card Chrome packs that are exclusive to Mega boxes. The price is up this year–to $44.99.
The skip numbered base set includes 100 cards that duplicate the Chrome Prospects set from regular Bowman but are printed in a pattered “Mojo” look. There are a variety of base card Refractor parallels, ranging from the more common Purple that are #/250 and found in every 28 packs to the rare Red (# to 5 and 1:1,397 packs) and 1/1 Black (1:7,018).
Ten players have Chrome Image variation cards that are found once in every 310 packs. 1/1 Black Refractor parallel versions of those will be super scarce at 1 in every 66,671 packs. There are also autographed versions of each that are found 1:2,755 packs.
Autographs are found in every 15 Mega Box packs with a checklist of 35 prospects in all. Refractor parallels include Blue #/150 (1:131), Green #/99 (1:198), Orange #/25 (1:784) and 1/1 Black versions (1:19,609).
Rookie Autographs are found one in every 1,386 packs with a five player checklist that includes Wander Franco, ONeil Cruz, Jake Burger, Jarren Duran and Otto Lopez. There are just two parallel versions for those and both will be very tough to pull: Orange #/25 (1:5,510) and Black 1/1 (1:133,344).
There are two insert sets that are part of the Mega Box release: Rookie of the Year Favorites, a 15-card set and Hi-Fi Futures, a 25-card offering. Refractor parallels are in the mix with both, again ranging from Purple (# to 250) to Red (# to 5) and 1/1 Black versions.
Boxes, at least as of Thursday morning, were available via this page on Target’s website. Boxes have been seen at stores as well. You can see some individual cards and boxes on eBay here.
