Topps has produced a 25-card set of sluggers available only through its On Demand web page for the next week.
The Topps “Chasing 600” set was created in part to honor Albert Pujols becoming the latest member of the group. The first six cards in the set commemorate milestone homers in his career. Cards #7-25 feature past greats who are in the club and young players who might have a shot if they can enjoy equally long careers.
The sets are packaged in a box and are priced at $60 through the Topps online store. Buy 12 sets and the cost is $700.
Jim Thome makes his first appearance in a Topps product since 2013. Not part of the set, however, are Babe Ruth (714), Willie Mays (660), Ken Griffey Jr. (630) and Sammy Sosa (609). Licensing issues may be partly to blame. Barry Bonds isn’t in the base set either but has signed autographs that are randomly inserted. In fact, one in every three sets includes an autograph of Bonds, Pujols, Mike Trout, Carlos Correa, Bryce Harper, Manny Machado or Anthony Rizzo.
There are Blue (# to 25), Red (# to 10), Silver (# to 5) and 1/1 Black parallels also randomly packed into the base sets with Red (# to 10), Silver (# to 5) and 1/1 Black parallels on the autographs.
There are more details on the Topps On Demand page. A full checklist is below.
