Another high end baseball release arrives Friday with 2013 Topps Five-Star Baseball. Topps has unveiled the final checklist for the product and via Twitter, offered a sneak peek of some of the cards that will be packed inside the the product, which looks to be priced at around $370 per box.
Chipping was a major problem for Topps Five-Star last year and we won’t know if that issue has been fixed until box breakers begin reporting their findings Friday.
The base set will consist of 100 cards, numbered to just 60. There will be Rainbow and 1/1 Parallels for all. You’ll see a mix of retired and current stars as well as some of last year’s top rookies.
Each pack will contain a base card, two autographs, one autographed patch card, 1 autographed book card or Silver Signature card and one jumbo relic.
Among the players who have signed for the product: Hank Aaron, Johnny Bench, Miguel Cabrera, Ken Griffey Jr., Mike Trout, Nolan Ryan, Don Mattingly, Dale Murphy, al Kaline, Craig Biggio, Willie Mays, Yasiel Puig, Frank Thomas, Evan Longoria and Rickey Henderson.
Quotable Autographs will include a signed card with an inscription and it’s interesting to see the suspended Ryan Braun on that checkilist.
Quadragraph book cards will include four autographs. One card will feature Hall of Fame pitchers Ryan, Tom Seaver and Bob Gibson along with Pedro Martinez.
Five-Star Dual Signature Book cards will include a Deion Sanders/Bo Jackson card, one of Trout and Griffey and another featuring Aaron and Ernie Banks.
There are four different 1/1 fold out book cards featuring 25 autographs as well as cut signature cards featuring Jackie Robinson, Ty Cobb, Satchel Paige, Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams.
