Topps is planning another online Rip Party for the release of its flagship baseball card product this year.
There won’t be a gathering of breakers like last year’s “Million Card Rip Party” in Dallas for obvious reasons.
The event will take place February 9 on Topps’ social media channels, one day before the official release of 2021 Series 1.
Topps says it will again have some special guests participating in the program. Last year, Pete Alonso made an appearance.
They also say they’ll be ripping packs “through the decades” rather than just the 2021 Series 1 boxes.
Several different breaking companies will be part of the show, in a head-to-head competition of some sort.
Topps is marking its 70th anniversary of baseball card production this year, with 70th anniversary foil stamping on each card and a special insert set.
Hobby boxes with 24 packs of 14 cards including one autograph or relic cards are currently selling online for $120-$140.
