Fanatics is expanding the international reach of Topps, with a new multi-year trading card deal with the top pro basketball league in Australia and New Zealand.
The first of its kind agreement with the National Basketball League (NBL) will begin with several new products to be produced starting this fall.
Topps says the products will feature “fan-favorite players and highlight moments from the league’s 10 teams including game winning baskets, iconic dunk shots and team cards.”
The cards will be sold in select retail locations and via Topps’ website. The company is promising “exclusive autograph and game worn memorabilia cards to chase along with trading cards showcasing the NBL’s biggest stars including Bryce Cotton, Chris Goulding, Aron Baynes, Xavier Cooks and more.”
Several current and former NBA players have played in the NBL and others have ownership stakes in NBL franchises.
“We are thrilled to be teaming up with the National Basketball League as their exclusive trading card partner and to expand our portfolio of basketball cards on an international level,” stated David Leiner, Topps’ Global General Manager, Sports and Entertainment. “This agreement marks another milestone moment for the company and showcases our dedication to delivering innovative, new products to basketball fans and collectors around the world, as well as spotlighting some of the world’s greatest athletes and players.”
“As a leading men’s basketball league for over 40 years, we’re honored to finally be able to highlight our talent and the groundbreaking moments that make our league so unique through our new partnership with Topps,” remarked Brad Joyner, Chief Commercial Officer from the National Basketball League. “We are confident that this agreement will increase our fan base and the overall awareness of NBL, while recognizing our incredibly talented and dedicated players on a global stage.”
