If you like rookie autographs, you might mark the last week of July on your calendar. That’s the release date for 2013 Topps Inception football, the first high end product the company will release next season.
Topps released product information on Wednesday with the promise of two autographs per seven-card box. Don’t look for any Hall of Famer autographs in this product. All signed cards will be from this year’s rookie class. There will be 100 veteran players making up the base set (Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco is card #1).
Each box/pack will include:
- 2 auto or auto relic cards
- 1 jumbo jersey or patch card
- 2 veteran base cards
- 2 veteran base parallels
Among the bigger chase cards are dual and quad autographs, relic book cards numbered to five, laundry tag relics, 1/50 Silver Signings, 1 of 25 Gold Signings, including Gold Nicknames and Gold Inscriptions. There will be at least five levels of parallels on the patch and relic cards and it appears as if Topps has a deal of some sort with Nike as one of the jumbo relics offered will be a Nike Swoosh parallel with a logo patch from the giant shoe and apparel company that makes NFL team jerseys.
Element Autographs feature a weather theme.
The rookie auto base cards will feature green, purple, yellow, red and blue parallels, the latter being 1/1. You can see a gallery of 2013 Topps Inception card mock-ups below along with a base card checklist and preliminary list of rookies who have signed on to sign autographs.
