Topps and Formula 1 have made it official: they’re partners on a trading card license.
The U.S. trading card titan and the British-based racing circuit announced their exclusive multi-year agreement, weeks after Topps revealed details of their first two F1 products: Dynasty and Chrome. The deal means more cards and sets are coming, including on-demand Topps Now F1 cards.
The agreement covers both physical and digital versions of collectible cards and stickers, with F1 and all 10 Formula 1 teams coming together with Topps for the first time in recent motorsports history.
“This is a huge moment for us and something we are so excited to be part of, stated David Leiner, Worldwide General Manager for Topps. “Everyone knows how exhilarating and exciting the sport of Formula 1 can be and we are delighted to be given the opportunity to bring the pinnacle of motor sport to a wider fanbase.”
Topps will create a new ‘Turbo Attax’ trading card game and a sticker set and album that’s due to be released later this year.
“Formula 1 is thrilled to partner with Topps to create our first ever series of licensed trading cards and stickers, Frank Arthofer, Global Head, Digital Media and Licensing for F1, said. “Together with Topps and the F1 teams, we can bring the excitement of Formula 1 to new and existing fans. We share a common vision for increasing how F1 can innovate in the collectibles space, and the launch of Topps Official Stickers and Trading Cards will be a key part of that strategy.”
