The Topps Company is setting up a development studio in Orlando, FL to expand its digital interactive presence.
Topps, with headquarters in New York, has poured millions into its new apps as it looks for ways to increase revenue and has been advertising on LinkedIn for software engineers, user interface engineers, digital artists and quality assurance testers for the studio.
The Orlando Business Journal first reported that the company was looking to build a digital company in Orlando that “will focus on mobile apps and video games”. This week, the news outlet confirmed those plans with Jeremy Stauser, vice president and general manager for The Topps Co Inc.’s digital department.
“With a large and diverse development tech community, Orlando is a great location for Topps to build a studio,” Stauser told the Journal.
Topps BUNT game, which allows users to purchase digital “cards” to play a game that uses actual player statistics has been a revenue-generating success for the company. They expanded that to other sports as well as some new Star Wars initiatives that have generated international interest.
Topps plans to start its work in Orlando early next month.
