Topps, in conjunction with Dave and Adam’s Card World, will open a new flagship retail store in Cooperstown, NY.
“Topps by Dave & Adam’s” will open in April of 2022. The company says it “will look to build upon the rich history of the game of baseball within the Cooperstown community and “the shop will provide a new destination for collectors that will be located in the shadows of the Baseball Hall of Fame.”
“I’ve always been a huge fan of Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame,” said Dave and Adam’s Card World Owner Adam Martin. “I try to visit at least once a year. On a recent visit, I walked out of the Hall of Fame, and just a few steps from the hall there was a vacant storefront. I thought that it would be a great place to open a store. I approached Topps about it, and things moved pretty quickly from there.”

Dave and Adam’s Card World, founded in 1991, is considered the largest online seller of trading cards in the world. Located about 240 miles from Cooperstown near Buffalo, the company operates a 35,000 square foot office and warehouse facility in Tonawanda, NY, in addition to a 40,000-square foot retail store in Williamsville, NY. The company is promising “a huge selection of packs and boxes” at the new Cooperstown location.
Topps Communcations Manager Emily Kless says the location of the store “provides the perfect backdrop” to get fans and collectors to purchase products.
Topps will be surrendering its longstanding licenses to produce cards of current big leaguers after the 2022 season following Fanatics’ sweeping deals with MLB’s players, the NBA and NFL. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be out of the baseball card business. Topps’ MLB license remains in place through 2025 and a presence in Cooperstown may be a step in strengthening its relationships with the game’s past.
