Topps has released checklists and additional details on what it calls “the most high-end product to date on Topps.com.” If you didn’t sign up for the company’s $200 “582 Montgomery Club” membership, though, you’ll have to buy it elsewhere. The new product is an autograph-only release called “The Brooklyn Collection.”
Priced at $1,000 per box and limited to 1,000 boxes, 2018 Brooklyn boxes carry five cards–all autographed on card–with a star-studded checklist of past and present players. The checklist is attached below.
The Brooklyn Collection was produced on two designs Topps says it had in its archives but never used. The cards are printed on 72-pt thick stock. There are 105 different possible autographs to pull–50 on one design and 55 on the other with some crossover between players.
The checklist includes members of this year’s rookie class including Ronald Acuna, Shohei Ohtani, Gleyber Torres, Juan Soto and others. Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, Jacob deGrom and Aaron Judge are among the current signers included while Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax, Nolan Ryan, Johnny Bench, Derek Jeter, Al Kaline, Bob Gibson and Reggie Jackson are among the Hall of Famers. Overall, it’s safe to say well over half of the players featured are either in the Hall of Fame or appear to be candidates for enshrinement at some point.
Each card is numbered to 25 with Red (# to 15); Black (# to 10); Purple (# to 5) and 1/1 Platinum versions randomly included.
The deadline to order the set passed Wednesday and Topps is no longer offering memberships in the 582 Montgomery Club (an ode to the company’s earliest address). However, some who signed up have already posted their Brooklyn Collection sets for pre-sale on eBay.
For their $200 club membership, members of the club do receive five other, smaller exclusive sets throughout the year.
