2015 Topps Dynasty Baseball will mark the return of the company’s one-card-per-pack super high end product when it arrives this Wednesday, December 16. Announced in the spring and originally slated for release in the fall, the second edition of Dynasty promises on card autographs from active and retired players including Mike Trout, Sandy Koufax, Ken Griffey Jr., Mariano Rivera and Cal Ripken.
Each card will be encased and numbered to ten or less. A full checklist is below.
Autographed patch cards will feature an oversized swatch with each numbered to 10 and parallels numbered to 5 and 1/1.
Autographed Dual Relic cards feature one all-time great, along with an on-card autograph and two relic pieces. Each is sequentially numbered to 5, with a 1/1 parallel.
The Cut Signature autograph checklist will include clipped signatures from larger documents of players like Ty Cobb, Joe DiMaggio, Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson, and Roberto Clemente. Each will be numbered 1/1. Relic versions will exist for some including game-used bat pieces.
Three stars who are well known for playing football, but enjoyed their time on the diamond will be part of theproduct. Football stars John Elway, Dan Marino and Russell Wilson, all have autographed relic cards.
Elway appears in Dynasty as a New York Yankee. In 1981, the Yankees drafted him in the second round. Elway played in 42 minor league games with Oneonta of the New York Penn League and, as an outfielder, he hit .318 with four home runs, six doubles and three triples.
The Kansas City Royals drafted Dan Marino in 1979 with their the 21st-round pick. Marino was drafted as pitcher, but he didn’t stick with baseball. Instead, he went on to become one of best quarterbacks in NFL history.
In 2010, Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson was drafted in the fourth round by the Colorado Rockies. He played two seasons in Single-A baseball before going back to play college football. In 2013, the Texas Rangers picked him in the Rule 5 draft.
There’s also a 1/1 Will Ferrell auto relic from his spring training foray.
2015 Topps Dynasty is being sold online with boxes generally falling between $260 and $280. A full gallery preview is below.
